System Center is the brand name for Microsoft's family of Systems Management products within Windows Server System. The Systems Management disciplines included in System Center are:

Q2: Has the original intent for System Center changed?

System Center has always been Microsoft's vision for delivering integrated Systems Management products and solutions. The only change from the original intent is the decision not to release a suite of products including existing Systems Management offerings. The System Center name will stand for the family of products rather than for a product suite.

Q3: Will there be a System Center physical product?

No. System Center is a family of products, but there will be no bundling of existing offerings.

Q4: When will there be an official announcement of the System Center strategy?

The official System Center roadmap disclosure will take place at Microsoft Management Summit (MMS) 2005.

Q5: What products are currently in the System Center family?

Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003, Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005, and Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005 Workgroup Edition are part of the System Center product family. To be released System Center Data Protection Manager 2006 and System Center Reporting Manager 2005 will part of the System Center family as well.
